i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 330 words commentary Tag:Open | It was the day before the express would bring all of the students to the castle – the day before his new job officially began. He was very pensive today, but all he could think about right at this very moment was that he was craving pizza. Walking to a pizza place near the Leaky Cauldron, Remus ordered the muggle delicacy and found his way back to the Leaky Cauldron. Sitting in a corner of the pub, he looked at the pizza for a few moments before he opened the box and took out a piece. Casually eating pizza in the Leaky Cauldron.
Everything was going to change tomorrow. He was going to have an actual job, he was going to be away from the war in general – unless it followed them. Harry was going to Hogwarts next year, though with the position he chose, he wasn’t sure if he would last more than a year. He hoped they could find whatever they were looking for before the year was over either way – the sooner Voldemort was defeated, the better.
He tapped his foot slightly while he ate, his eyes not really paying attention to his surroundings, but his ears and instincts were working in overdrive – probably because he wasn’t used to being somewhere ‘safe’. Just two years ago, just two years it had been since things had calmed down a bit. Before that it was a war – not that most people would notice too much… other than people going missing and things like that, but that was only because of their work behind the scenes.
This pizza was pretty great. He looked at the pizza for a few moments and regarded it. That muggle place made a pretty good pizza. It was nice and soft and warm and savory. Grinning he took another piece once his first was gone, a little bit of the sauce dripping down his chin. He quickly wiped it off and licked it off his finger.

What does any sane person do the day before hopping the train to their last year at Hogwarts? You go to the Leaky Cauldron to pretend you were an adult, drink butterbeer and eat really good food, that's what.
It was a goddamn miracle that somehow the three broomsticks happened to have a pool table. A fully intact one at that, though Tonks had to de-charm and de-stick a few of the pool balls (honestly, who in their right mind charmed pool balls to stick to the bottom of the sockets? Cheaters, that's what). Finally, the pool table was set up and she looked around the tavern to get someone to play with her. Luckily, just nearby was a lonely looking fellow... eating... was that honest to god muggle pizza? Oh my god, perfect. This guy had no idea what was coming to him.
She smirked, looked into the mirror nearby and after a brief moment of concentration, she gave herself a slightly mature looking version of her own face, and her hair lengthened into dark brunette ringlets. She smirked at herself. Perfect.
That done, she sauntered up to said pizza-eating-male and slid into the chair across from him, smirking.
"Good evening~"

i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 280 WORDS commentary | Remus was just minding his own business when he heard a voice, looking up to see – whoa, she was beautiful. For just a moment his mouth hung open before he quickly shut it and started to berate himself internally for it. If Sirius or James or Peter got wind of that split-second reaction he would never hear the end of it. Taking a bite of his pizza really quickly as to give him a moment of how to respond, he wasn’t able to savor the taste of the muggle food as his mind was whizzing around.
Why did she look familiar to him? Why was she even talking to him? What was going on? His eyes took a glance down her body and them back up, trying hard not to linger on her curves, but his eyes meeting hers. He swallowed and set his current piece of pizza down. “Do I know you?” She looked familiar – almost like he knew someone who looked similar – maybe he knew a family member. Or something like that. Or he was making a fool of himself in front of a pretty lady.
“A-A-Ah, sorry,” He realized how rude that sounded and quickly attempted to stand up, hitting his leg against the table. Quickly managing to regain his balance, he took a napkin and wiped off his hands and offered a hand to her. “That was terribly rude of me. Uhm…” How to not sound rude… Remus took in a deep breath as he contemplated how to ask ‘why are you even talking to a loser like me’ in a way that wouldn’t seem rude. “To what do I owe the pleasure of your… greeting?”

Tonks' grin grew at the male's reaction. Yeah, she did that to people and she had only changed her face and hair! Rose had always gotten a kick out of how boys would fall over their feet for these demonstrations at least until she was scolded on being distracting.
She gave a hum and shook her head, ringlets sweeping across her face. "Can't say that you do."
She giggled softly as he suddenly stood and held out his hand. She looked at it a moment before taking it gently, shaking it with a gentle squeeze.
"Well, I thought you looked mighty lonely and bored and wondered if you'd join me in a game of pool?"

i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 308 words commentary | What was wrong with you Remus? You’ve seen pretty girls all the time – like Lily! She was pretty, and you don’t act like this around her. Then again, you’ve known her since you were eleven, had a crush on her for a short time before letting it go because your best friend was head over heels for her. He swallowed looking at their hands before he quickly let go and ran that hand through his hair, suddenly feeling a little bit self-conscious about his face.
“Well the balls are charmed by a few cheaters – I can remove them though…” He’d played pool before, though not very often. Mostly when he was free, and somewhere in the muggle world. There were a few times during this war he had been assigned somewhere in the muggle world, and he understood the concepts pretty well.
But that also led Remus to be slightly confused. Why was she asking him? Just because he looked lonely? There were plenty of people who looked lonely in places like this. Plus, he wasn’t lonely. His pizza kept him compa – he just realized how sad that sounded in his head. “Not to sound rude or anything, but why me? I’m not good looking or – or even fun to be around really. I don’t think you’d have a lot of fun playing against me…” That was the perfect way to not sound rude by leading off with that. It was almost as bad as ‘no offense’. He swallowed, his throat feeling a bit dry before he quickly got himself a butterbeer and took a small swig.
His eyes drifted down for just a moment (just to her lips, he’s not that much of a pervert thank you very much), licking his lips and he quickly looked away blushing. “A-Ah sorry, I’m not used to talking to people…”

Tonks gave a bright smile, "oh, I've already taken care of that!"
She giggled and stared at her chosen opposite player and chewed on the inside of her bottom lip. Something about the way he was acting was familiar. She couldn't place it though. Though, as he seemed to be searching her, she couldn't help but think his eyes were hauntingly striking. Like the moon in the sky. Hm. That was a familiar trait of someone... right?
He released her hand and she sighed, rolling her eyes, "I chose you because you look like you need a distraction-" though, that pizza was doing almost a good enough job, but, ha; she mused. "And I'll be the judge of how much fun I'll have."
She gave a kind smile and reached out for his wrist. "C'mon, what's one game with a pretty lady? Hm?"

i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 239 words commentary | She already took care of that? Well there went his chance to show off his magical prowess – wait Remus, that’s what you were thinking? No, no, it was just to even the playing field, so things weren’t rigged towards one or the other – that way it could be fun. Not to show off. Not at all.
Quite honestly, Remus kept thinking he knew her for some reason – she looked awfully familiar, but he couldn’t quite place it. There was just something about her that drew him to her, and it wasn’t that she was completely and totally stunning.
His eyes glanced down at his wrist when she grabbed him, and he swallowed looking up at her, the nervousness showing in his eyes. He prayed that none of his friends would walk in and see him like this – though mostly because he was really enjoying this. The contact with a pretty lady, the possibility of playing a game of pool with her, the possibility of being just treated completely normally by someone who had no idea what he was…
“A-Alright, but if you get bored, y-you can stop.” He wanted to make sure he wasn’t going to bore her – he might be a Marauder, but he didn’t think too highly of his ability to amuse others. “And… if you want, I still have a bit of pizza left, you can have a piece – it’s a muggle food, quite delicious really.”

Tonks led the man over to her pool table, all nice and set up; she also noted that she hadn't even gotten his name yet. She would have to rectify that in a moment. But to get a name, she would have to give a name. She thought about this a moment. Yeah, we could go with that!
"Like I said, I'll be the judge of that," she grinned at him. Oh, there was no way she was going to be bored. No way. The pizza was tempting - she would probably take up on that later, maybe.
She gave him a smile, "I'd like that, maybe in a bit. So, I'm assuming that you know what pool is, given you didn't give me a look like I had grown a second head. Most people who play it in here don't know the muggle rules.
That said, no magic.
Also, I'd like to propose a wager, to make this more interesting?"
With that, she held out the pool stick to him. "And my name is Luna."

i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 362 words commentary | He gave her a half-grin. This was actually pretty exciting – someone who knew how to play pool, asking him to play, and that someone being a very beautiful young woman. If he were a weaker man, he’d be drooling over her just based on these few facts, but he kept in mind the fact of what he was and that if she knew, she’d likely run from him. Therefore, he knew he couldn’t get too close to the woman. He likely would never see her again, but he had a feeling he would always remember this.
“Of course. I’ve played pool before. My mother was a muggle, you see. I know quite a bit about the muggle world as a whole, though not quite as much as I wish I knew. Raised as a wizard because of my father.” He gave her a small nod, chuckling slightly at the quip about looking at her like she had grown a second head. He could just imagine some of the looks she might have gotten from others. It was just good luck she picked someone who knew what pool was – or bad luck considering she had inadvertently picked a werewolf.
“A wager hm? I’ll accept. Name your terms.” He was a Gryffindor. What did you expect? For him to back down from a challenge? It wasn’t like he was the best at pool, but he didn’t think he was too bad of a player – he was able to visualize some of the shots in his head, though he wouldn’t consider himself a ‘good’ player.
“Luna. That’s a beautiful name. Goddess of the Moon, Artemis.” The moon. For a moment he paused thinking of the coincidence that he’d meet a stunning woman literally named ‘Moon’. Then again, his name meant ‘Wolf Wolf’, so it wasn’t like he could talk. It was almost like his parents knew he was going to end up a werewolf. “Dangerous times, Luna, you should be more careful handing out your name. Remus. That’s my name.” He gave her a chuckle and a wink. He just handed out his name after chiding her for just giving out hers. Smooth Remus. Smooth.

Safe to say, her body was buzzing with excitement.
"Excellent, so it should be a fair game then."
Perfect. This would make it all the more exciting. "As for that wager. I'd like to propose that if I win; the next time we see each other you'll ask me out for a drink."
She smiled at him as he complimented her quick work of a name. "Well, I suppose I've been fascinated with the mythology of the moon for all of my life. My name was just a happy coincidence."
As he introduced himself, she paused for half a moment, her mind racing. Where had she heard that name before? She gave another good look at his face and her jaw dropped. What was her luck?! She quickly picked her jaw back up, giving him a brilliant smile. No wonder those eyes seemed familiar. Oh boy, this was going to be interesting indeed!
"Pleasure to meet you, Remus," she purred his name. "I'm sure we'll be fast friends."
The fun thing about pool, is that it, in itself, was a very provocative game. And Tonks, having gained the knowledge she has now, was going to have a bit of fun.
Yes, her boots had made her quite a bit taller than she normally was, so as she leaned over, it was a very pleasing view as she lined up her pool stick, ringlets falling over her shoulder.
And she made her opening shot.

i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 452 words commentary | A drink? Oh, there was that nervousness. He wanted to run away. He wanted to just leave and forget about this – but his pride had forced him to stay. It wasn’t like they would see each other again, he would be off the hook. So why was he thinking of what he would get if he won?
“If I win, then… let’s have that drink now.” His hands were shaking slightly at his side with nervousness, before he crossed them to help prevent them from shaking visibly. What was he thinking? Any other date he’d been on, one of his friends had set him up, and yet here he was, playing a game of pool with a beautiful lady suggesting they have a drink after this.
She looked at him weird when he said his name – did she know him? He searched through his head for the name, but the only person he knew of with the name Luna was Xenophilius’s daughter, but she was only 9 right now – and this woman was not 9 years old, nor looked a thing like old Xeno. The way she said his name sent shivers down his spine, his face turning a bright red.
“I – I – I hope so,” He stammered, though he internally cursed himself for making such a fool of himself. It wasn’t like they would see each other again – that was what he kept telling himself.
He had never realized how provocative pool could be. He had only really played with people he didn’t really think of as ‘beautiful’, or were already a friend of his and therefore he had been able to shove any sort of inappropriate feelings to the side. However, when she leaned over to take the shot, his eyes immediately looked at her bum, staring for several moments, not even seeing the shot when she took it.
“Very nice –“ He paused, catching himself trying to compliment his view and he swallowed before he finished, “Shot. Not bad at all.” His eyes quickly left her and found a spot on the wall that was so interesting to him for some reason – it was just a piece of wall. A distraction. He swallowed before looking to the table, uncrossing his arms and taking ahold of the pool stick.
It took a bit longer for him to make his shot, his eyes closing for a few moments after he had leaned over to get a good view of where he would hit the ball, trying to prevent himself from shaking so much. After a couple of minutes he lined up his shot and finally took it, sinking a couple of balls and looking to her with a small nervous smile.

Tonks' lips quirked into a smile. He really was like his sister. Or was it vice versa? All she knew is he was terribly adorable. However, she would win this little game, as she wanted the promise of another day - though, they would see each other regardless of the outcome.
Rose had told her about how her brother and his friends were coming to teach at the school. It was just astounding that Tonks would happen across Remus like this. She couldn't help but wonder if she had an affinity for attracting Lupins. Or was her fate sealed that day when she fell into Rose's arms?
She didn't know.
But she was liking it anyway.
"Fine, you better do your best to win, then. I'm holding you up to it."
She giggled. This was turning out to be the best 'pretend you're an adult' plan ever. Seducing one of your professors that happens to be your best friends brother? Tonks surely found trouble at every corner.
She smirked as she caught him looking, though, she definitely wasn't trying to boy coy with it at all. she but the inside of her bottom lip as he leaned over to make his shot, and well, if he liked his view, she definitely liked hers.
As she walked around the table to watch him make his shot, she crossed behind him, grazing a hand lazily down his spine as she did so. The touch was brief, but it proved a point.
The crack of the balls hitting each other pulled her out of her thoughts, however, and she pouted as he sunk a few of them.
He was better than she expected!

i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 296 words commentary | He grinned from ear to ear and shook his head. There was something so intoxicating about her he couldn’t seem to resist.
“I’m a Gryffindor, on my honor, I won’t lose… or at least I won’t go against my word.” Trying to figure her age, Remus hadn’t heard of any Luna while he was going to school, and if she wasn’t going to school still, because he hadn’t one on his roster he could recall, that meant she was 18-23 years old. That honestly wasn’t a bad age range. Perhaps he should ask Severus later if he met a feisty, beautiful young woman named Luna while he taught there. He’d taught since they were 21, so that would reduce that range quite a bit considering she had to be either going to school with them or taught by Severus. He could get a precise age if he consulted Severus on it – assuming she went to Hogwarts.
That brief touch? Well, it took a short time for Remus to realize she had actually touched him and it wasn’t just in his head in reaction to her watching him. He could practically feel her eyes watching him. After he had made his shot, he made a small yelp upon realizing it was actual physical contact with a girl. It felt so good too – it couldn’t be real. She couldn’t be real. He wasn’t that lucky.
When he bent back down for his next shot, he was acutely paying attention to every sensation on his body, distracted completely and nearly sent the white ball off the table because of his nervousness. ”Ah-Ah, s-s-sorry, its been a little bit since I-I’ve played.” Or he was subconsciously throwing the game so he could have the hope of seeing her again. |

The giggle that escaped Tonks as he fumbled his next shot was mirthful. She sobered quickly, knowing that a sudden change of emotion would have her guise fall immediately. Though she knew after this, her hair would be pink for days. Rose was gonna wonder what the hell went on.
She gave him a smile, "as a Hufflepuff, I respect that."
She gave him a flirtatious wink. "So when I do win, that drink is a sure thing."
She laughed. Tonks, you do realize this is going to be one of your professors right? Only just for the year! She told herself.
tonks leaned over and line up her next shot, sucking her bottom lip into her mouth in concentration. There was a crack, and she managed to sink a few of the balls.
"So, Remus," she said, straightening up and moving around the table to get the angle of her next shot, purposely passing behind him again, her hand trailing along his lower back. Oh, she was a minx. "Can I ask what you do when you're not chatting up pretty ladies at the Leaky Cauldron?"

i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 275 words commentary | His face turned a bright pink hearing her giggle, not because he was embarrassed but because he found it so endearing – so cute – so amazing. Of course, he was embarrassed at the terrible shot he had just made because of his complete distraction while playing.
Hufflepuff eh? So, she definitely went to Hogwarts. Hufflepuff told him quite a bit about her – and mostly it was good things. Loyalty, friendship, they were both highly important to her. And she was a particularly good finder. Somehow, she had found him and stolen his heart before he even realized it was gone.
“If. Th-That was just an mistake.” One he was actually pretty sure he would make again given how distracting everything she did was to him. He watched, impressed by her skills, amused by her giggle, and so utterly smitten with everything about her.
He sucked in a breath when she trailed her hand along his lower back, not at all used to treatment like this. Sure, there were girls who liked him in the past, but none of them had been forward like this. “A-Ah, well, I’m a member of the group fighting You-Know-Who, but… well this year I’ve retired and accepted… a position at Hogwarts.” Well he wasn’t retired from fighting, but that was his story and he was sticking to it. “Though… I don’t expect to be around for too long, I did accept the cursed position.”
He paused for a moment, his eyes lingering on her, enjoying her curves, curls and gestures a little too much. “What of you? What do you do when you’re not… playing pool with strangers in a pub?”
