Rose nodded, "it's sad that even my generation isn't going to benefit from any change. Maybe later in life; but... alas. I'm going to work hard at it anyway. And whatever you and the others are doing for Dumbledore will surely effect something."
Rose smirked, "so in other words, he's probably found it strange that I treat him like I do. Given who I'm related to. He was probably all ready to start slinging insults at me.
My first day of potions back in my first year was really hilarious though. He's going down the roster, right? And he gets to my name, and I have never seen someone flinch so hard in my life. So he's like, 'Miss Lupin'? I nod and reply, 'yes Professor Snape?' And he legit just stares at me. Housemates have noticed this awkwardness by now, and you know how I do that cute little head tilt when I'm confused right. Well, I do that. And I kid you not, he blushed and then continued on with the roster.
I didn't know whether to laugh or feel bad, cause I wasn't sure what he was thinking at that moment, but. If he finds that head tilt as adorable as you or James or Sirius... well. I think he thought he was in trouble.
Anyway. So the days and weeks go by right, and I think he's surprised because I assume he's ready for me to join the same mindset as everyone else. Nope, it's all 'of course Professor Snape', 'yes Professor Snape'. No Snivellius, no griping about essays, nothing. Completely out of character for a Gryffindor right?
I'm sure he still has no idea what to do with me. Cause I know he knows that I know the story of what Sirius did. If there's anything my classmates are confused about, it's how well I get along with Snape."
She shrugged, finding it unimportant. "I guess... in a way, I'm apologizing for you, Sirius and James. I know Sirius still calls him Snivellius; which you should reaaally talk to him about because that is completely inappropriate for his station."
Rose grinned, excited for the thought of spending a full moon with him and his friends. "Well, I mean. No offence, Gryffindors are kinda unobservant. James and Sirius must have been hatstalls. Because there is no way a person of normal Gryffindor calibre would have noticed. I mean, then again, I am very introverted as it is. Tonks fell into my arms, literally."
At this, Rose blushed for a moment. "Uh, I was going up a flight of stairs and she was coming down, and in true Tonks fashion, her boot got caught up in her robes. Sent her straight into me. Luckily I had only gone up a few steps, so I didn't fly back very far. But that was also the day that I learned I can cast at the very least a cushioning charm nonverbally!
Anyway. We've been friends ever since. I mean, you literally don't nearly kill someone by falling down a flight of stairs and not."
She chuckled, "but if there's anyone who may know who I am, it's Tonks. And if she does know, she hasn't said a word. Though, she does tend to have notes for me if I do miss a class."
Rose taps her chin. "But I'm not going to confirm or deny any suspicions by confronting her. If she knows and she's staying silent, well. Good for her."
Rose gave barked a laugh, "yes, I suppose that where he would reside."

i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 367 words commentary | “Wh-What? We’re not – we’re not doing anything here but t-t-teaching!” Remus. You’re a shit liar when it comes to dealing with your sister. Especially when she likely meant the stuff you were doing outside of school. Yeah. Remus internally slapped himself for acting so dumb.
Remus smiled shaking his head. Severus? Blushing? That was hard to even picture. Well at least not around a certain married redhead. While it was great – Remus thought back to something from Amelie and he shook his head. Surely, she knew about that already. Even still, he was proud of her for doing what he couldn’t do himself. He probably couldn’t even recover the relationship with Severus even now.
“Well, regardless, I am proud of you for that. It… is very good that Severus isn’t being… treated poorly because of the past. Sirius… well, I’ll talk to him. But those two have a very bad situation between them – especially with what happened between them, and me.” He looked very guilty just mentioning the situation – he almost killed Severus Snape because of Sirius, and while he had forgiven Sirius for it mostly, it still affected him and he thought about it all the time.
“To be fair, Gryffindors tend to have qualities of the other houses too, if you look at it. Gryffindors just… have a little bit extra to them.” He smiled slightly thinking of how his friends belonged in the other houses as well – he always fancied himself a bit of a Ravenclaw – Peter and Sirius a bit of Slytherins and James a Hufflepuff. Of course they were proud Gryffindors, but even still.
Remus laughed at the story with Tonks. “Well that definitely sounds like the cousin Sirius talked about. I can’t wait to teach her. I’m sure it’ll be an… interesting experience.” He considered for a moment and nodded. “She might know, not because of what you’ve done, but there’s also the fact she’s Sirius’s favorite cousin, and they’ve had contact. While I trust him not to tell people about… our condition, there is always a possibility that around those he cares about and trusts, like Nymphadora, it might have possibly been said. And I wouldn’t blame him for it.”

An eyebrow rose into her fringe and she did the head tilt as mentioned before. "Do you think I was born yesterday? Why the hell would Dumbledore bring four order members to the school, when they could honestly be outside of it?"
She crossed her arms over her chest shaking her head. "I don't think McGonagall would have allowed Sirius back into her classroom without a good reason, more or less teach her subject either."
She laughed. "You're a shit liar Remus, on top of that. Anyway. I ain't gonna ask what you all are doing. But if you never need anything, you know where to find me. I am your sister after all."
She gave a wink. "Yeah, I realize that neither of them dropped whatever school boy foolishness they had between each other. I guess I'm lucky I'm not a Black. Snape would've hated me immediately then."
A roll of her eyes. "Sure, sure. They have other qualities to them, but I guess the ones I'm around are the most unobservant ones to date."
She started ticking people off on her fingers: "Charlie's obsessed with Dragons - so even if you told him, he wouldn't care. Oliver's always on the Pitch going on and on about how Slytherin's not gonna win the Quidditch cup this year. Alicia and Angelina are too busy fawning over Cedric Diggory, the best looking boy at Hogwarts - though, Sirius is gonna give him a run for his money."
She giggles, shaking her head. "Aaaaand well, Fred, George and Lee Jordan are just... you know. Trouble."
Suddenly she's reminded of someone. "Oh... have you ever felt... like... guilty for something that you haven't even done but just because your kind has done it, it makes it really awkward to be around someone? Well, there's this girl, I met her through Tonks - she's in my year, her parents were killed by uh... people like us."
Rose cleared her throat, a pained look crossing her face. "Poor girl, I legit sent her flowers anonymously with a long note. I couldn't help it. My empathy was off the charts when I heard about her."
Rose considered that for a second. "I bet that might be it. Well, at least she hasn't run screaming. I know she isn't one for judging people just because of ... well, you know. Very Hufflepuff, she is; open and accepting to just about everyone."
She gave a soft smile. "And that's why she's probably my only friend. That and she won't let damn near anyone else near me.
Like I had this Slytherin try to ask me to this ball we had a few years back... Tonks comes up out of nowhere and puts her arm around me and literally tells the guy 'back off, she's going with me'."
Rose shrugged.

i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 407 words commentary | Oh, Sweet Christmas. Remus think. What was the excuse he had come up with before? In a duel he could think of the best strategies in an instant, but when he was trying to hide something? Oh, he was the worst at it. “In order to, uh, affect the minds of the young and prevent more turning to… uh, the other side? W-We are fairly powerful I’d like to say… training young witches and wizards and making sure they, uh, don’t turned towards You-Know-Who seems pretty important.” He really was a shit liar.
“Well, to be fair, I was the kindest of the Marauders to him – though I wish I was a bit better. Maybe then things would’ve turned out better.”
As she listed off several of the Gryffindors he couldn’t help but chuckle. They all seemed like very driven, and interesting people. But she had a point, if those were their priorities they likely wouldn’t notice. Dragons, Quidditch, cute boys? Who could worry about werewolves when there was things far more interesting to them? “Oh, and I won’t give him a run for my money?” He laughs, knowing that there was no way for it.
He listens to the story about he girl whose parents were killed, and Remus instantly looked extremely guilty. He remembered looking in on a conversation with his father and mother before she died – before she died. “Just think about how many we could catch. Send him out and find them –“ There wasn’t any sort of argument as his mother had just completely shut him out. “Don’t even suggest that. He’s just a boy. You’re not going to use him. He’s just the same as he was before!” Remus remembered the look when his father suddenly looked and saw him by the door and Remus had run off to his room. If he had just – if he had done what his father wanted, would her parents still be alive?
“I –“ He paused and shook his head. “I don’t blame you. I – I’ve felt guilty before.” After all, all werewolf attacks he could have changed were his fault.
Tonks, well, his past experience was a positive one, though he couldn’t help but blush slightly at the mention of her swooping in and saving his sister. Wait, why was he blushing? Because she was so kind? Or because of that whole… pizza incident. “I’m glad you have someone like that for you.”

She stared at him, her face blank. "Mmmhmm."
She sighed, shaking her head, "you just had no control over your friends. I don't blame you for that; standing up to them with a fear of rejection is something I know too well."
She nodded sagely. She paraded around Hogwarts mostly being this really pretty girl, who was actually very nice, but she kept everyone at arm's length. It was a lonely situation, but it was for the best, as if anyone got too close to her, found out what she was.
She shuddered at the thought.
She rose a brow at her brother, pulling a face and then laughed. "I mean. If there's someone out there that likes people who fold their socks."
She really hadn't wanted to bring that up; she didn't know why she did. It was not really a conversation she wanted to have with her brother. The darker side of their lives. She sighed, throwing her arms around him again in a hug.
"Tonks really is a wonderful person; I can't wait for you to get to know her."

i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 252 words commentary | He was still ashamed that he didn’t stand up to them at all – but she was right, he was incredibly afraid of losing them. Even now he was afraid of it – he cringed at the thought of talking to Sirius about Severus.
“Fear should never be an excuse. I’ve fought dark wizards, faced death, tortured for information, and yet here I am unable to face my friends. It’s… a weakness. I don’t want to lose them. To this war or because of my own idiocy."
However, despite the darker topic, he couldn’t help but laugh when she mentioned him folding his socks. “Oh well that just adds to it. What better way to measure a man than to look at his socks? What person doesn’t love a man who takes care of his socks? Look in a man’s dresser and if you see it a mess, well you should run. Folded socks? He’s a keeper.” He was obviously joking, but he definitely wanted to lighten up the mood a bit – it didn’t do well to see his sister upset. Only he was allowed to be depressed!
Accepting her hug and hugging her back, he sighed, trying to hold back the fact he practically went on a date with Tonks already, though of course at the time he didn’t realize it. It wasn’t until he figured out her name wasn’t Luna that he realized the mistake he had made. “Hm. I’m sure. I’m sure she would too like to ‘get to know’ me.”

She made a face, one that said she really didn't need to know about that, and she made a frown that would rival Molly Weasley's. But she sighed, "it's not idiocy to stop being from hurting others, you know. But, then again, stupid teenagers."
She gave him a teasing grin. "Hm, I assume if a mans sock drawer is in dissarray, I would be annoyed. Then again, it depends on the man. If I'm folding his socks because he's out there doing good in the world, well... I think it's a fair compromise."
Not like she'd ever get that lucky as it was. Friendships were hard enough. Romantic encounters? Get out of here. She'd be lucky to find someone to trust that deeply. Given that she was pretty much breaking a billion laws by breathing. Ah, well, there she went again, Remusisms.
She sighed into the hug, hiding her face in his chest, her voice slightly muffled as she spoke again. "She has good taste in people, right?"

i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 262 words commentary | It was at that moment Remus realized what he had said to her and felt guilty for saying that aloud. It wasn’t like she needed to worry about that stuff – okay yes she probably should, and he would if it were her in his position, but either way, it was in the past and he didn’t think of it when he spoke. Good job Moony.
“Agree to disagree. Everyone fears, but only the brave can stand up to their greatest fears and tell them to bugger off. When fear holds you back from doing what is right, that is when weakness is shown.”
He chuckled at her sock drawer analysis. Though, honestly, he wasn’t a girl, so it wasn’t like he could judge for girls. And it wasn’t like he actually thought girls thought he was handsome – except one certain girl who had really gotten to him. And even then he wasn’t convinced she actually liked him, but she enjoyed toying with him.
“I suppose. But doesn’t it say more of a man who folds his socks and manages to do just as much good as the guy with the disorganized dresser?”
He bit his lower lip, his face turning into more of a sad frown than before, able to hide his face from her. He looked older, downtrodden, depressed. The only thing he wanted more than anything in the world was to make her happy, but he was a miserable failure at that. “Hm… I think so. She likes you, so it can’t be that flawed of a judgement, can it?”

"I can agree with that," she said with a nod. She related to that greatly.
"You know what they say, it takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends."
She laughed softly.
"If the man manages both, well," she gave a shrug. "I supposed it does say something. But I wouldn't be so concerned about socks when it came to wartime."
She gave him a pointed serious look, even though he was looking away. "I suppose. But anyone who's friendly with a werewolf has got to be slightly touched in the head."
She said it as a joke. Sort of.

i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 166 words commentary | He bit his lower lip when she mentioned the standing up to your friends bit. There was a lot that he had put up for them – but he was too afraid of losing them, losing love, being shunned by the only ones who could possibly love him (at least in his mind) to really stand up to them. Remus chuckled slightly.
“Now you’re starting to sound like Dumbledore.”
His mind turned towards the socks and he just simply shrugged and chuckled lightly. “Well, I’m fairly concerned. What if someone looks in my drawer and thinks ‘this man is messy! I should join the Death Eaters instead!’” He knew that was ridiculous, but he was just joking about it anyways.
He kissed her forehead and gave her a quick hug. “Well, perhaps, but a good sort of touched in the head. Speaking of your friends, you should probably run off and find them – we can set up a weekly dinner for us to chat together on, yes?”

"What can I say," she said with a shrug. "He's influential. And says a lot of smart things.
Most of the time."
She chuckled, shaking her head. "Remus, I don't think anyone would look at anyone's sock drawer and decide to join the Death Eaters. Death Eaters probably have worse sock drawers."
She smiles, "oh! I would love that. Hell, Tonks would love that. we should definitely do that. When should we do it?"
Hell, now she was excited. Time to hang out with her brother? Hell yeah!

i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 133 words commentary | Remus chuckled. Dumbledore was quite a wise man – he listened to him anytime he offered his advice. He knew he was wise and knew more than he did – and he saved him from a life of hiding. Saved him from probably joining a werewolf colony and possibly hurting a lot of people. He respected him more than anything in the world. He trusted him more than anyone in the world.
“How would you know? Have you been going through a Death Eater’s sock drawer lately?” It was like suggesting that someone was Batman because you’ve never seen them in the same room together. He was holding back a laugh.
“What about Friday nights for dinner, if you want you can invite your friends along, but it’ll be the ‘us’ time of the week.”

She chuckled, "true. I only know of one supposed Death Eater and I never been past his office doors, let alone his sock drawer."
She giggled. "But I assume even his are pretty boring."
She laughed again, shrugging.
"I may bring her along once in a while. Friday nights sound perfect."
She nodded, throwing her arms around him in a hug again.

i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 125 words commentary | “If you get a chance somehow, you should give me the results so I can use it as evidence and adjust my theory of neatness of sock drawers to sides of the war.”
He laughed shaking his head. He sincerely hoped she wouldn’t be looking through Severus Snape’s sock drawer, which is who Remus had assumed she meant as he was indeed the only assumed Death Eater that she would know. However, he supposed it would be funny if she snuck in there while he was busy elsewhere just, so she could take notice of how neat it was. Wouldn’t that be hilarious?
“That sounds wonderful. I’ll just jot it down on my schedule to make sure its clear for you, and possibly Miss Tonks.”

If she got the chance.
She snickered. Sure. She would do just that.
"You better make sure it's clear, you jerk, you're the one who suggested these dates!"
She shook her head and laughed. She gave him another hug.
"Fridays. Okay. I'm gonna go now. You... don't get into too much trouble. You hear?"
