i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 347 words commentary Guess who started an open thread?!? That's right it's me! | He managed to teach his classes on the day of this full moon right here at the start of the month, but he did not look very well. Having gotten a few comments about how he might need to see Madame Pomfrey, he assured them he was quite alright and continued on with his day. However, after the day was over, and the night rolled in, it wasn’t actually quite that bad. Wolfsbane definitely helped – even with his friends he hadn’t ever felt that free.
Even still, the day after the moon he felt a bit sick still… as well as in pain. His bones still had been broken over the night for the transformation and then forced back into the right shape. As soon as class was over, Remus quickly found his way to the grounds, feeling even more nauseous when surrounded by walls. It was going to be alright, and he knew it. This was just the after effects of his body going through something it wasn’t supposed to do naturally. It was a curse after all, a terrible curse.
Remus lay against the grass, his eyes closed. He could feel the sun in the west, though not quite setting. The light tried to break through to his eyes, but his lids kept it at bay and protected them. The cool air all around him and the slow movement of the world around him – it made him feel not quite so bad. It made him feel not quite so dizzy or feeling like he needed to vomit. Not that he ever really did vomit when he felt like this – it just felt like he would.
His fingers were tapping along the ground the beat to an old Elvis song – ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love With You’, which was one of his mother’s favorites – the first mom, not the one who married his dad after his mom died. It was likely his imagination but he could almost feel the Earth moving through space, everything moving all together at once, as if he were in a vehicle.

The day after the full moon was always pretty rough. Tonks would tell her she looked like death incarnate, but Rose never felt too particularly terrible. Apparently she just mostly looked it. She did feel tired though. She would sleep well tonight, but first, some fresh air. After being locked up in her room until moonset, and then actually having to try to get sleep, she nearly missed breakfast.
Luckily, she made it with ten minutes to spare to grab something for her grumbling stomach. She should probably think about getting something during the evening meal if this sort of thing was going to continue when it came to full moons. She wasn't fond of being late. For anything, really.
She found herself wandering the outskirts of the ground, only to find her usual spot taken. She gave a wolfish grin, she knew she wouldn't be able to sneak up to him, but she could definitely try. She moved slowly through the grass, towards him, until she was standing right at his head, casting a shadow over him, leaning over.
"Enjoying the evening?" she said with a smile. "Doin all right, Professor Lupin?"
A wink.
[steals another thread, lolol]

i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 155 words commentary | Remus could feel her coming, the sound of her feet against the grass, and of course he could tell exactly who it was – who else could it be coming here like that?
He opened his eyes when he felt his face get shaded and smiled up at his sister, his face gleaming, though honestly, he still felt a bit under the weather.
“As well as I can, Ms. Lupin,” Remus laughed lightly and sat up, patting the ground next to him.
“The usual, you know, dizzy, pain, exhaustion. I tried to take a nap earlier but I couldn’t get to sleep.”
He gave her a small smile. He hated when he couldn’t get to sleep like that – the pain kept him awake, sending signals to his brain telling him he couldn’t sleep because there was something wrong.
Who would’ve guessed his body deforming into the shape of an animal would cause his body to ache?

She sat down next to him heavily, sighing as if just not standing anymore was a relief. It kind of was, after a full moon. Doing anything human but sleeping was a drain. She frowned though. It was the first month with wolfsbane for him, it wasn't an instant help, but it would, eventually.
"It's only the first month with the potion, Moony. I'm sure you'll be able to sleep next month."
She was happy that he finally had access to the potion finally. Sure it was administered by the boy who his friends used to bully, but regardless. He was getting it, that's all that mattered.
Her usual was exhaustion and her body aching, so she agreed there through the dizzyness concerned her. She furrows a brow before putting shifting to her knees, putting her forehead to his, closing her eyes. Ah, well that would do it.
She pulled away and say back, "do you normally run fevers?"
She supposed the curse was different, person to person. She had been on the potion pretty much since she was changed, so she knew what she experienced, so the fever was definitely new. She turned, reaching into her bag and procured a bottle of pepper up. Something she always kept on her on the day after.
"Here, this will help. And then I have a bar of chocolate we can share, too."
She offered the potion to him.

i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 225 words commentary | Remus gave her a small smile and nodded. “I hope so. I know with anything there’s always side effects that you must get used to – it’s nothing I can’t handle.” Even if it was difficult for him to handle right now – he just need to keep pushing on. It wasn’t something worse than other things. Like waking up completely covered in your own blood because you scratched and bit yourself the nigh before, wounds unable to be healed like normal. Just thinking about it made Remus move a hand to his chest before dropping it to his side and leaning back, looking up at the sky.
“Ah, well, my body tends to be warmer than most people in general. I guess it’s a part of the furry little problem – but its not like we have any precedent from before I gained the issue. Maybe I’m just naturally warmer.” He smiled and shrugged slightly. He took the potion from her and took a small sip from it. However when she mentioned the chocolate he couldn’t help but chuckle slightly.
“Oh but Rose,” He reached into his robes and took out a bar of his own, “I always have chocolate of my own. Never leave without it. Living with James has slight perks – helps me save money when I can and buy myself some chocolate when possible.”

Having no frame of reference for a werewolf that hadn't ever taken the potion for most of his life, to now taking it, bothered her on an extreme level. She was acutely aware of her limits and what she could expect, most of the time. In fact, she knew about how long she could stay out of her room on a full moon night.
The fever worried her, of course. "I guess. It doesn't feel too high, but I would expect that's where the dizziness is from."
But Remus' situation made her uneasy. So many unknown variables. And she figured the potion would make him sick. It was another change, after all.
"Sleeplessness aside, it was nice though, right? Sort of, in any case? To open up your eyes and see your friends and still go, 'ah, Padfoot, Prongs, Wormtail'. Right?
She grinned at him, eyeing the potion, wordlessly telling him to drink a little more.
"Well, you know what they say. Great minds think alike."
She giggled. "James and Lily must be ecstatic about having two live in babysitters on a twenty-four-seven basis. So who changes the diapers, you or Sirius?"
She giggles.

i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 208 words commentary | Remus wouldn’t stop the potion just because of a few unexpected side effects – it wasn’t like there was much study on the potion itself, but he knew that with Rose, long term use was most definitely possible with little adverse side effects. He figured he would get used to it and then the effects would subside – even if they didn’t, it was better than just waking up in a pool of your own blood.
“It was... very nice. I mean, I couldn’t literally speak and say that, but… it was better than any other time I’ve experienced. I felt… finally free. I could think. I was… me. Even before when it was just the four of us without the potion – I was able to regain some of my mind, but it was a constant fight. With this I just… I could almost forget I wasn’t human.”
He took another sip of he potion, just slightly suspicious it was poisoned because you know… he’s a paranoid idiot. “Seriously? Can you see Sirius changing diapers? He tried once and was very lost. When Lily doesn’t convince James to do it, and she doesn’t want to do it herself, the job falls to me. Sirius gets to do the ‘fun’ stuff.”

She looked at his apprehensiveness to the potion and she sighed. "That one was made by me. I, fortunately, did not inherit your lack of ability for the fine art that is potion making."
She snickered, nodding. "Almost," she agreed. "I hope that with all this studying on the wolfsbane I'm doing on Saturdays -" she gives her brother a pointed look. "That I would somehow be able to develop it, that the potion not only allows you to keep your mind but your human body as well. There's not a cure, but if one can put a stopper in death; well, a stopper in an involuntary transformation should be easy enough, with the right research. Also to make it not taste so bloody awful."
She laughed, "no, I suppose I couldn't. But I assumed you would be very good at it. You just have... a quality about you. Very motherly."
She eyes him, smirking.

i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 207 words commentary | He still grimaced slightly and took a slightly larger gulp, feeling the different fairly quickly. Man, he wished he wasn’t terrible at potions. But it wasn’t like he was going to go to Snape for some potion lessons. He knew what he was good at and what he wasn’t, and he would play with his strengths instead of working on his weaknesses when he knew they would never be up to par.
Even still, when she mentioned Saturdays, he grimaced. Extra lessons? It couldn’t just be wolfsbane. What was Snape playing at? “Maybe. Maybe not. It might not be possible, but… if it is, that would be wonderful too.” He just gave her a small smile, internally thinking it would likely never happen, but he also didn’t want to crush her dream.
“Oh what a tragedy I won’t ever be a father of my own,” He teased, though it was a bit dark and bitter when he said that, hidden by the joviality. “Luckily, Harry is old enough not to need diapers anymore – he’ll be attending Hogwarts next year. I’m hoping he’ll be a Gryffindor like his parents – and ‘uncles’.”

She smiled and nodded as he finally took a proper amount of the potion in. He'd feel better sooner.
"It would be bloody wonderful," she said nodding. "I mean, it had to be created to work as it does now. It's just all about breaking it back down again and finding the parts of the formula which can be improved. There's always a variable, Remus. And I'm going to find it. It may not be our generation, but I hope that with the research I can at least make the lives of the generation after us much simpler."
She nodded, determined.
She shook her head, "well you've done well with Harry. Being the responsible uncle."
She laughed. "He will be at Hogwarts next year... hopefully he doesn't cause as much trouble as his father. I think after this year Minnie's gonna be close to wanting retirement."

i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 181 words commentary | He was starting to feel better, but he knew partially his symptoms were in his head, but at least he could now differentiate what was real and what he was imagining to be symptoms. He pressed his lips together and attempted to breathe out, making his cheeks puff out slightly. After releasing his lips, the air was released, and he ran a hand through his hair.
“Well, I won’t deny that. It would be fantastic. And if you need any guinea pigs, you know I’d be willing to help out, even with my complete lack of potion skills,” Remus chuckled. It was his worst subject in school, but he had at least managed to pass his NEWTs enough he could’ve become an Auror if he weren’t, you know, a werewolf. Just barely by the skin of his teeth, mind you.
“I’ve done the best I can, but he’s grown up around James and Sirius,” Remus chuckled and gave a small, almost bittersweet smile, “Though I think he’s gotten the idea he’s got to be at least somewhat responsible down... I hope.”

She looked at him with mirth in her eyes.
"Thank you for volunteering. It'll be quite a while but I'll make sure to contact you when I've seemed the potion has reached a stage for testing.
Though I'm sure I'll be the first volunteer for such a thing."
She smiled at him, leaning heavily against him and then groaned.
"Oh you are very right, he has grown up around them," she looked up to the sky. "And I won't be able to keep him away from Fred and George."
She pressed her lips together. "Let's hope he does have some sense of responsibility!
And doesn't go off chasing danger, like trolls in dungeons or basilisks in the pipes, or anything like that."

i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 192 words commentary | He winked, grinning at her. “As if I would let you test a potion that could hurt you.” He looked at her with a slightly worried but amused look. “Me first, then you can try it out.” But man, it would be great even if it was very unlikely.
“I didn’t even think of those two,” His eyes widened for a moment and then sighed, “Hopefully because they’re older they won’t suck him into their… trouble. I would rather not have to deal with him getting detention… though lately its been harder to catch the twins. They’re getting better at it.” He gives her a look as if he was a little bit proud of it. They really were giving his friends a run for their money – and they were a bit nicer than they had been to others… though he could tell they liked to prank a lot of Slytherins specifically.
“Hold on, why would there be basilisks in the pipes? I mean, I get the troll in the dungeon. Next you’re going to say the ministry will be sending dementors to Hogwarts or there’ll be the tri-wizard tournament coming back.”

She giggled, "okay mom."
She wasn't going to argue with him. She knew which battles to pick to fight over when it came to him and testing potions was not one of them.
"Unfortunately, I think that's inevitable.
Or he'll find his own. I mean, like what, that'll be four Weasleys with him again?"
She rolled her eyes, sighing.
"I don't know Moony! It's a Magic School! Shit's possible around here...."
She shuddered at the thought of Dementors.
"Or worse making a toad like Dolores Umbridge headmistress. Or, how about this, Severus Snape as headmaster?"

i will break the spell you put on me | everywhere i go, i am spellbound; you cannot have this control on me | 238 words commentary | Like a child, he stuck his tongue out at her when she called him mom. Though honestly, he found it… endearing to be called a mother. A parent of any kind. Quite honestly, he had always dreamed of being a father, even before the curse – but he knew he couldn’t. There was no way he would ever risk that.
“Well, one of those four is Percy Weasley, and he, unlike the twins, is responsible. I don’t know much about the younger one coming to Hogwarts, but I’ve heard he’s somewhere in between the twins and Percy. Maybe he’ll be… a good influence for young Harry,” Remus mused with a thoughtful look on his face.
“Dear Merlin, I would die if either of those happened. Dolores Umbridge anywhere near this school is –“ He made a fake gagging sound, “Though, I take it you wouldn’t mind Severus as headmaster.” He chuckled slightly and gave her a side hug.
